Who we are
Going Rate (goingrate.com.au) provides free online cost calculators and builds branded calculators for Australian businesses. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
What we collect
- Calculator inputs you enter (e.g. project size, options). These are used to produce your estimate and are not personally identifying on their own.
- Enquiry details you choose to submit — your name, email, phone and/or postcode — when you ask for an estimate or a callback.
- Basic usage data — anonymous counts of how often a calculator is loaded and completed, to improve the tools. We do not require cookies for this.
How we use it
To generate your estimate, to send you the information you requested, to pass your enquiry to the relevant business so they can follow up, and to maintain and improve our calculators.
When you submit an enquiry through a business’s calculator
Many calculators are embedded on a business’s own website (for example a builder or clinic). When you submit an enquiry there, your details are forwarded to that business so they can contact you about your request. That business is responsible for its own handling of your information once received. We act as the technical processor that delivers your enquiry to them.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with: (a) the business whose calculator you used, where you submitted an enquiry; and (b) trusted service providers who help us operate (e.g. our email delivery provider), under confidentiality obligations.
Storage & security
We use reputable cloud providers and take reasonable steps to protect your information. Enquiry records are retained only as long as needed to deliver and support the service, then deleted.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@goingrate.com.au. You can decline to provide enquiry details and still use the calculators.
